We recently purchased a new coffee pot and as usual we ran Vinegar through the machine to clean it first.
YUP - Straight White Distilled Vinegar to clean your coffee pot. This process will de-scale, sanitize, deodorize and completely clean your machine.
Paint brushes were also in the workings this morning, creating beautiful pictures on paper.
That was when the light bulb went off inside my head. I know hot vinegar will clean deeper then cold vinegar so I poured some vinegar from the coffee pot straight to the cup I had the paint brushes in.
WooHoo instant color change to the vinegar. Now I want to point out that the brushes were already cleaned once by the kids with just warm water. So now you can see why I am so impressed with the color change.
Here is one of the paint brushes that has dried on modge podge from months ago.
Here is the same paint brush after soaking it in the hot vinegar for a few minutes. I used a dry paper towel to easily rub the modge podge off. This was way easier then trying to scrub it under hot running water. Note I already emptied the cup. There are just a few small specks, but that is because I did not care to scrub a whole lot ( I have no patience when it comes to cleaning), but you can still visually see a substantial difference.
The best part, the coffee pot as well as the paint brushes are super clean. I will never wash another brush the old way again. Anytime I let the kids paint (unless it is often) I will be running a cleaning cycle on my coffee pot so I can accomplish two tasks at one time.
Now that my coffee pot is clean, I will run 2 cycles of water through the machine to insure I have removed all the vinegar before we make coffee. Enjoy your double tasks!
